Just in time to get underway for the winter season, Smet Construction Services celebrated with one of its dear repeat customers, Fox Communities Credit Union, as it broke ground on its newest location on Green Bay’s near eastside. About the same time last year, in a near repeat scenario, we broke ground at Fox’s west-side location that opened spring of this year on Military Avenue.
Now, our forces have again joined together, this time to construct a new facility at 1820 East Main Street on the east-side. Fox Communities, President, Greg Hilbert, said “We are delighted to again be working with Smet. We know them and they know us and we know that our expectations will be met. They do an excellent job at bringing the job in on time and with quality. “
The project replaces a tired and outdated facility about a mile away. The new building will be more user-friendly with teller stations at the front of the store and a customer appreciation area where customers can come in and have access to Wi-Fi with refreshments. “The customer service area has been a big hit at our other new locations.” Hilbert said. “We look forward to serving the east-side of Green Bay and are happy to be a part of this growth.”
Before the ground-breaking ceremony, which took place under cloudy and wet weather, there was some speculation about cancelling the ground-breaking. Mayor Jim Schmitt, said, “I would never cancel a ground-breaking due to weather. This is the best part of my job!” The mayor thanked Fox Communities for their west-side investment on Military Avenue and noted how Fox is now investing on the east-side. “This location on East Main is a great area. We have a lot of opportunities to elevate the area and this is an example of a great development.” he said. He thanked Fox for demolishing an outdated retail center to make way for its new facility. “This is what makes Green Bay great, the fact that businesses want to be here. Thank you for investing in the right community. Thank you for what you are doing.”
The project will be completed over the winter season and is expected to open late spring of 2015.
