Project Details

• This project was constructed to house General Electric’s Oil & Gas Compressor Plant.
• Smet  provided full construction services to General Electric for this 151,000 square foot project; including land acquisition, plans, permits, engineering, financing, machinery foundations, equipment moving and construction of the new assembly bay which houses a 100 ton overhead crane.
• The project delivery was a Fast-Track, Design/Build method which resulted in the project being completed two weeks prior to the scheduled completion date.

Smet Advantage

After GE O&G purchased AC Compressor for 300 Million dollars GE Immediately came to Smet  to assist in re-locating the entire facility off of the river in Appleton.  Smet secured several site options in NE Wisconsin and GE settled on the Oshkosh site, 3300 Medalist Drive. Smet then purchased the site and completely designed and built a new 170,000 s.f  office and manufacturing plant to serve as their new headquarters. Services included, site selection, site acquisition, environmental, permitting, financing, design, value engineering, plant and process layout, complete construction, machinery moving, set up, and building commissioning.
