Just in time for summer! Enjoying a frozen treat just got easier this summer as Zesty’s celebrated the first day of summer by opening it new frozen custard stand and grill in Howard, on Green Bay metro’s north side.
After a year of planning, owner’s Ted Zieman and Janelle French opened the same date on the calendar that they opened their first store, 27 years ago in Green Bay. “This is an exciting day, we’re actually celebrating being in business for 27 years and last week we were voted the “Best of the Bay” frozen treat for three years in a row!” “Our frozen custard is voted the best, and we are proud to be recognized for it!”
Ted thanked Smet Construction Services for their involvement in the project and Paul Belschner, Smet’s President thanked everyone for coming out and discussed the sustainability aspect of the project. The building used to be a bank and prior to that, a funeral parlor. “This is just the type of project that Smet is known for, the adaptive re-use of a building and re-purposing to another use. “One of the things we pride ourselves at Smet is to re-work these buildings.” Paul said.
Part of the re-working includes new colors and creating a signature epoxy floor that stands up to the tough stains and spills known in custards stores. The floor really ties together the creative color scheme picked out by Smet’s interior designer, Sarah Reese who said, “It’s really bright and fun!”
Howard’s public works Director, Geoff Farr, welcomed Ted and Janelle on behalf of the village of Howard and noted the location across from Bay Port High School and nearby walking trails should really help business.
So now that summer is here, check out the new colors, and floor at Zesty’s! And don’t forget to cool off with a nice home-made, local frozen treat!
